# Put Grok Bot in front of a Hermes agent so unattended jobs keep running

## What they did

The author split work between two systems. Hermes cron jobs run unattended, while scheduled Grok Bot routines that touch tools wait for approval, so long or nightly work moved to Hermes. A chief-of-staff Grok Bot wrote the script that talks to the Hermes local API: start a run, stream its events, poll until it finishes and pass approval requests back. Each Hermes instance has its own profile, a /new command starts a fresh context, and every reply carries a short proof-of-work footer naming the model and the tool calls used.

## Worth knowing

The reusable parts are the split (one system for conversation and approvals, another for unattended jobs) and the provenance footer, which lets you see at a glance what actually ran. Anything that runs unattended needs tight limits on what it can touch. Another builder posted a similar Grok Bot and Hermes setup the same week.
