The Unreal agent session contract and a five-check quick check (free sample)
by PaperChaseWebb
From Unreal from Codex: the session file a coding agent reads before it touches your Unreal editor (checkpoint commit, objective, leave-out list, local endpoint), five risk tiers, an action log format with a verify result per call, five rules to paste, and a read-only quick check with a worked example.

What you end up with
Before your agent makes its first editor call, you have written down what it should do, what to leave alone and which commit to go back to, and you can check the session in a second.
What you get
- SESSION.md template
- Five risk tiers
- The action log format
- Five rules for AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md
- session_quick_check.py with a worked example: 5 findings, then 0
Who it is for
Anyone about to let a coding agent call Unreal editor tools who wants the limits written down before the first call.
Works with
Solid chips: the agent is named in this listing's own tools list. Dashed chip: Plain Markdown, so it also pastes into other agents such as Grok Bot, Hermes, OpenClaw or Muse. We list those as compatible by format only, not as tested.
Tools needed
Cost to run: Free.
Time to result: About ten minutes to a checked session file
Sample prompt from the pack
Save the python block in this file as session_quick_check.py and run it on this project folder. Paste the findings. Do not make any editor calls until the check prints 0 findings and I say go.
The rules and the session file are in the file.

# The Unreal agent session contract and a five-check quick check (free sample of Unreal from Codex) Version 1.0, 2026-10-28. By PaperChaseWebb. For Unreal Engine 5.8 with its Unreal MCP plugin, and any coding agent that connects to it: Codex, Claude Code, Grok Bot or Hermes. One Markdown file and one Python 3 script, standard library only. The script was tested on its worked example (5 findings, then 0). The Unreal steps were not run in Unreal for this sample. When a coding agent can call editor tools, the useful question is not what it can do but what it is supposed to do this session, and what it already did. This sample gives you the one file that answers the first question and the log that answers the second, plus a script that checks both in under a second. ## The session file Put this in Agent/SESSION.md next to your .uproject, before the agent makes its first call. The agent reads it and does not edit it. ```markdown # Session Engine: 5.8 Checkpoint: 4f2a9c1 Endpoint: http://127.0.0.1:8000/mcp Objective: Place the approved crates in /Game/_Agent/CrateRoom Leave out: lighting, maps outside /Game/_Agent, packaging ``` - Checkpoint is the commit you made right before the session. If the session goes wrong, you reset to it. - Endpoint is the address of the editor's MCP server. Keep it on your own machine: 127.0.0.1 or localhost, never 0.0.0.0 or a network address. - Objective is one sentence with a folder in it. Leave out is the list that stops the agent from improv
Worth knowing
- The sample has no setup guide, approval ledger, asset pipeline, probe or full checker; the full pack adds them, tested on a seeded fixture and in headless Blender.
- On 2026-10-28 the quick check gave 5 findings on the worked example, then 0. The Unreal steps were not run in Unreal for this sample.
Questions
Does this need Unreal installed to try?
No. The quick check and its worked example run with Python alone. You need Unreal 5.8 for a real session.
What is in the full pack?
Unreal MCP setup for four harnesses, a connection probe, approvals tied to file hashes, recovery steps, a headless Blender prep script, an import script that refuses changed files, fifteen read-only checks with a fixture, ten prompts and a failure table. $24.

Unreal from Codex: Unreal MCP setup, a session contract and a tested asset pipeline for coding agents
Connect Codex, Claude Code, Grok Bot or Hermes to the Unreal MCP server in Unreal Engine 5.8 and keep every session in bounds: a session file with a checkpoint commit and a leave-out list, five risk tiers, owner approvals tied to file hashes, an action log with a verify result for every call, and recovery steps for editor restarts, stale tool lists, compiles and timeouts. Adds a generator to Blender to Unreal asset path with a headless Blender prep script, an import script that refuses changed files, a connection probe and a fifteen-check read-only checker.

A playable Godot jam starter that tests itself (free sample)
From the Game Jam Kit: one line writes a small playable Godot 4 game with its goal on screen from the first frame, a 48-hour plan with seven milestones, ten agent rules and three empty ledgers. The game plays itself headless and exits 0 or 1, a quick read-only check covers five common jam faults, and the docs answer whether a released game can safely call an LLM.
